Nvidia RTX 40 series - Everything we know so far (Specs, release date etc.)

(SI) Nvidia RTX 4090Ti

Well, we all know Nvidia announced a new lineup of GPU about a month ago.

People are mad about the recent release of the RTX 40 series. Because, it's fast.... like really fast...

New Nvidia GPUs are on the market. And it's RTX 4000 series. But first, let's look what we're discussing today. And here comes.. lineup.

Nvidia RTX 4000 GPU lineup:

1) Nvidia RTX 4090Ti (48 GB GDDR6X)

2) Nvidia RTX 4090 (24 GB GDDR6X)

3) Nvidia RTX 4080 (16 GB GDDR6X)

4) Nvidia RTX canceled 4080 12 GB.

5) Nvidia RTX 4070.

6) Nvidia RTX 4060.

7) Nvidia RTX 4050.

We will update soon other lineups as they are rumored  or confirmed.

What are the specs of Nvidia RTX 4000 series?

We have the specs of Nvidia RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. But others are still rumours. But the RTX 4070 is pictured.

What are the specs of RTX 4090?

RTX 4090 is a huge and also a beefy card. The reason for being a jumbo card is the heatsink. Man, the heatsink eats all the three slot of the Graphics card. The GPU is so fast that it heats up pretty quickly. So, a big heatsink is needed to cool down that extra heat. But despite having a huge heatsink, it still gets overheated while taking heavy loads. Even some users reported that the 12VHPWR connector got melted while running.

What are the specs of RTX 4080?

RTX 4090 is a bulky card... well, the RTX 4080 is a nice dual slot card.
It doesn't draw a monstrous power... but it will be fine for 4K gaming.

However, here are the specs of the Nvidia RTX 4090/4080:

*Apologize mobile users, the spec scaling is a bit messed up....

                   RTX 4090                     RTX 4080 (16 GB)

VRAM: 24 GB GDDR6X                                    16 GB GDDR6X

Bus width: 384 Bit                                                256 Bit

Memory bandwidth: 1008 GB/s                           735.7 GB/s

TDP: 450W (That's why it's called beefy)            320W

Cores/TMUS/ROPS: 16384/512/176                  9728/304/112 (4080)

RTX 4070 rumors:

Dual-slot desine, 12GB GDDR6 VRAM, 285W power draw....

For more details please check TechPowerUP.

Update: I don't know about the RTX 4070... but RTX 4070Ti has been spotted. And it's the same specs compared to the unreleased RTX 4080 12GB. That's NICE...

The good about RTX 4000 series

It's fast: Like really fast...in 4K, guaranteed 80 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 (ultra) if you purchase a RTX 4090.

DLSS 3.x: This is a great upscaling technology and can give a huge frame boost while gaming.

@Nick930 created this video.

3rd-Gen RT cores: These RT cores will boost your ray tracing performance and give you some realible and realistic gaming experience.

What's bad?

Power consumption: The power consumption is huge. The Nvidia RTX 4090 has a TDP of 450W. That's huge. Because the previous Gen Nvidia RTX 3090 had a power consumption of only 350W. That means you have a higher chance to buy a new PSU for the next gen Nvidia flagship GPU purchase.

The price tag: The price of Nvidia GPUs are sky high. Even many people who could afford a RTX 3080 at MSRP (of course, it's a dream), couldn't even think to buy a next-gen upgrade. Unless you're going for AMD:)

The power connector problem: There are some users who are reporting that their 12VHPWR connector are melting while running. And now, even the native 16 pin power connector is melting down without any bending.

Release date:

The release date for RTX 4090 was October 12th 2022 || RTX 4080 is November 16th 2022 || RTX 4070,60,50 is somewhere around 2023

Conclusion and ION rating:

Well.... I don't know how to describe this conclusion. Indeed, Nvidia has gained the supreme 4K gaming performance. But who asked for the connector melting sacrifices? And most of us don't even want to spend extra bucks on a new PSU after spending tons of cash for a new GPU. So the moral is, get an RTX 4090 or 80 IF you have a tons of cash to invest for a new RTX 40 series GPU and a new 1000W PSU.

And the ION rating for RTX 40 series (especially for 4090) is 6.5/10. At least, considering the monstrous performance.
